Seeing the World in Black & White

Posted on November 13, 2013 by Emily Siciliano | 0 Comments

Everybody loves a pop of colour, especially as the weather warms up! We seem to get sick of the darker, dull colours that winter fashion brings us.

In saying that don’t underestimate the impact of black and white for summer, all known as the monochrome trend.

The monochrome look lends itself to a splash of colour. It is a timeless and classic look that suits all ages.

In the image below our model Jodie shows off the monochrome trend.

Kaftans are a necessity in every girl’s wardrobe. Stylish, comfortable, cool, breezy and easy to wear....They can also be glammed up for a night out!

The kaftan is one of those items that suit all shapes and sizes. Gone are the days where they were just that cover up for bathers.

Katans come in beautiful fabrics including silks, linens and cotton and an array of patterns/colours to suit all tastes. Kaftans make for a comfortable and breathable floaty alternative to the tank/tshirt.

You can now wear kaftans in so many ways.....with a little tank underneath, shorts and cute little sandal or wedge to create your casual day outfit. Then when it comes time to glam it up, a hot pair of legging or skinny jeans with a cute shoe is the perfect complement for your kaftan.

Kaftans are also a great trans-seasonal piece... perfect for this time of year.

As the weather warms up our clothing racks start to fill with our fabulous new spring/summer pieces. We are also in the middle of picking fabrics and patterns for our summer kaftan collection and are so excited about what we are seeing!

There is great value when it comes to our kaftans at Serafina Boutique with most falling under $60.

Here is a little sneak peak of what is to come with more on the way.

Serafina ladies, don’t be scared of layering! We get a lot of ladies coming in store who say they can’t layer as they are too short or it makes them look fat. If done properly anyone can layer, it is just a matter of trial and error.

Layering doesn’t just have to be done with clothing; you can add your necklaces or scarves as well to break up an outfit.

There are so many beautiful flowing garments coming out at the moment but some ladies just look at the garment itself and feel it may be too long, too floaty or our favourite comment of all.... “I look like I am wearing a tent”... not that any of you look this way but it is how we feel.

Ladies we need to look at our garments in a different way and be more inventive and creative. When you find a gorgeous garment that is a floaty number don’t just look at it as that individual piece. Start to think about what you can add to it such as a scarf, necklace or vest over the top. Maybe even a long sleeve tank underneath as well.

It the piece is floaty then adding something a bit more fitted such as a vest or short jacket can take away that “tent” look as a lot of ladies think.

It also means that you can reinvent your wardrobe so some of those lighter knits that you were wearing in autumn. A long sleeve t-shirt under that knit and then a scarf or a necklace on top can suddenly create a more versatile wardrobe.

We have added some images below of our model Jodie as she adds layers her long floaty top/dress. Firstly she adds the long silver leaf necklace and then we add the fitted lapin vest.  Add a few other accessories such as a bracelet and watch and that floaty top has a completely different look to it.

This blog is put together by the Serafina staff based on your feedback and questions. If you have any ideas fee free to get in touch with us

Adding a bit of colour to your winter wardrobe.

Posted on June 06, 2013 by Emily Siciliano | 0 Comments

Your winter wardrobe doesn't have to be dull ladies. By now you would have packed up your summer wardrobe and be looking at your options for winter. How many times have you gone back to the safe option of that black winter outfit?

That being said don’t disregard your dark colours, it is just a matter of adding your pop of colour. A pop of colour works wonders for that black outfit. Just because the sun shine has gone, doesn’t mean you can’t have a bit of fun by adding colour.

A great example of this is the outfit Jodie (one of our staff) is wearing in the photos. She is wearing our black lapin vest, black swing top and black leather look pants. For jewellery she is wearing our matching black infinity necklace and bracelet.

Add to all of this is her pop of colour being our pink jelly watch which adds a real statement to the outfit.

When you are looking at your clothing look at it in a different way.  Another option to this outfit would be to add colour with a scarf or a piece of jewellery.....maybe even a handbag? Be bold with your pops of colour!

You don’t have to spend a fortune updating that wardrobe, colour draws the eye to the statement piece rather than the plain black outfit. You can make any old outfit come to life!

The colour ranges available at Serafina vary to suit all tastes. From your autumn colours right through to your brights and neons, we have something to suit the most fussy of shopper.

If we could leave you with a final thought heading into winter it would be..... don’t be afraid of colour....embrace it!

West Lakes Update

Posted on May 15, 2013 by Michael Siciliano | 0 Comments

Thanks to everyone that came to say hello when we were down at West Lakes over the first two weeks of May. We were glad we could help a lot of people out in making Mum happy for Mother's Day.

Long term we hope to have a permanent site at West Lakes but in the short term we will be continuing with our pop up store. We plan to next visit the centre in July and stay tuned to the website for updates on the exact dates.

Rundle Place is revealed at last!

Posted on April 25, 2013 by Michael and Emily Siciliano | 1 Comment

Rundle Place is finally open and Serafina has a presence in the City. Thanks to everyone who has supported the opening of the new store. It was more work than we could have imagined, but in the end it's worth it! We're so excited about our fabulous new store in Rundle Place in the heart of Adelaide.

Right up until the last few days, it was touch-and-go whether we'd make the deadline for opening day. The centre was an absolute hive of activity with the noise of power tools, Some builders and shop-fitters ended up working around the clock within the centre on the last few nights and we know we weren't the only ones feeling the pressure.

If you live in or near Adelaide and you haven't yet visited Rundle Place, we're sure your going to be impressed. We're surrounded by some of Australia's top fashion stores and the new-look Harris Scarf will leave you amazed!

6 tips for looking after costume jewellery

Posted on April 08, 2013 by Emily Siciliano | 0 Comments

The staff at Serafina have got together and put down ideas on how to look after your fashion jewellery. Here are our top tips:

1. Always store your jewellery in an organza bag to prevent tangles. Organza bags are free with your jewellery purchase at Serafina so just ask the staff for one when you buy.

2. Don’t let tarnish build up. We recommend cleaning your costume jewellery with a non-abrasive cleaning cloth on a regular basis. Jewellery cloths are available free with any purchase.

3. Avoid your jewellery coming in contact with hairsprays and alcohol from perfumes. Put your jewellery on after you have sprayed these products.

4. Avoid getting your costume jewellery wet at all costs! Water and jewellery do not mix well. Even when talking your jewellery off ensure that it is placed in a dry place and not near a bathroom sink. If it does get wet make sure it is dry before you put it away.

5. Costume jewellery does not mix well with soaps, face creams or moisturizers.

6. Some people have higher levels of acidity in their skin and this can lead to damage to your costume jewellery. Make sure you give your jewellery a good clean after wearing it to remove any oils that may have built up.

Got a question? Come in and ask our friendly staff and they will be happy to assist.
